World Vision: Strengthening Accountability to Communities
We designed and developed three elearning modules on strengthening accountability to communities for World Vision.
Module 1 – This module provides a basic overview, key terminology and starts to ‘sell’ the reasons that they must be accountable to the communities they work with.
Module 2 – This module walks the learner through the planning stages where they carry out a context analysis. This is led by a character that guides them, and a small team of peers, throughout the process.
Module 3 – This module takes the outcomes of the context analysis and demonstrates how the results of the context analysis can be used to design the right accountability system for their community.
The geographical spread of learners meant our solution had to:
- Be translated into French and Spanish.
- Include audio for learners using the module where English, French or Spanish is a second language. To avoid the cognitive overload associated with having an audio track that repeats the words on screen we proposed providing the audio as an ‘on demand’ resource. This solution provides users with the flexibility to pick and choose what content they read and what content they have read to them.
- Comply with World Visions strict SCORM package maximin size criteria – this informed the design of the module however, the resulting modules are rich with custom graphics and authentic elements.
Although a complex subject, we are really proud of the practice and context based solution we created for World Vision.
