Client: Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK is the leading charity that cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of every person affected by or at risk of diabetes. They provide information, help and peer support, so that people with diabetes can manage their condition effectively. They are also one of the largest funders of diabetes research in the UK.
After researching the availability of off the shelf elearning on the subject of Gift Aid, Diabetes were unable to find a satisfactory elearning course on the topic. They therefore decided to approach us and asked that we design and develop a bespoke module for them in Articulate Storyline. We were thrilled to be awarded the contract to deliver this 30 minute bespoke elearning module.
The main objectives of the module were to:
- Highlight the benefits of Gift Aid to the organisation as part of a blended approach in house.
- Provide an introduction to Gift Aid and the process it should follow.
- Ensure that Diabetes UK is always compliant by managing Gift Aid correctly.
- Provide a sustainable solution through development in Articulate Storyline to allow future updates to be made in house.
During the initial kick off meeting we discussed the module requirements with the compliance team. This allowed us to agree an overall approach for presenting the topic. The module was then developed using our usual four stage process which starts with the development of a module outline, followed by a working Alpha version then Beta and Gold. At each stage of the project the Diabetes UK project team provided valuable feedback that was incorporated before signoff.
The resulting module used a clean, flat infographic style design and allowed the learner to explore how Gift Aid donations were processed at each stage of the process to ensure that the benefits of Gift Aid were maximised and managed correctly. Within this they covered:
- The different channels that generate Gift Aid and their responsibilities.
- Eligibility and how to claim Gift Aid.
- Reporting requirements.
- What to do during an audit.
Feedback from learners has been very positive and included the view that the module is highly interactive, clear and concise.
In addition, feedback from staff has also lead to the identification of additional training needs to support staff on processing Gift Aid.
“We would most definitely recommend Little Man Project. They went above and beyond during the development process particularly in taking time to ask lots of questions to understand the content and what we wanted to achieve before turning it into a really effective bespoke module.
Six months on and the pass rate is really good so far – staff have found the module informative and easy to use. Knowledge of Gift Aid across the organisation has increased considerably. More staff are aware of the internal processes and procedures to be followed to ensure compliance.”
